Batch 77 Sapphire Jubilee

You’ll Never Walk Alone

It has been four decades and 5 years since our graduation in 1977 at Assumpta Technical High School.  God remained faithful every single day as we live our motto or theme “You’ll Never Walk Alone”.

The climax of our Jubilee Celebration was the Thanksgiving Mass last November 12, 2022.   When we processed towards the altar together with our priest’s classmate Rev. Fr. Manny Sta. Maria, our hearts were filled with wander and awe as remember the bountiful gifts that Assumpta has given us.

Looking Back:

We remember the gift of faith formation that formed our hearts, the different academic disciplines that formed our minds and the many events that formed and opened our hands to reach out and assumed our social responsibilities with sincerity.  The blending of these three pillars helped us cope with the pressures of life and the many challenges that we encountered during our growing years.

In our sixty’s we already experience moments of silence in the early hours before dawn, the question of life’s meaning surfaces, and the face of Jesus breaks onto the screen of our imaginations, and the sound of His word echoes over our inner core. In quiet listening, we recognize a God who speaks to us in the depth of our hearts and brings us back to our Assumpta formation.

We remember how God has loved us during these past 45 years. We realized that here in the school we often witnessed the language of the Kingdom. We discovered God while reflecting on His words during our everyday morning praise. We encountered God in every Eucharist that we attended and celebrated. We became more intimate with God when we bent our knees in prayer and adoration. We found interest in God when we recognized the values of the Kingdom being lived by our parents, families and friends, by our sisters and teachers and by our Assumpta Community. We rejoiced with God when the fruit of our prayer and the witnessing of others became our response to the unfolding events around us.

We remember that accompaniment is real in Assumpta, one profound experience was the great flood in Central Luzon in the ‘70’s. We were taught to rise and were encouraged to get involved in re-building from whatever is left of our homes, of our clothes and school materials. We remember our struggles in coping up with our personal and communal poverty. We were never alone.  We were held by God’s hand and we felt His embrace and love.

We also remember the gatherings and sessions we had in the old chapel discussing in detail the events in our country during the martial rules. Our Assumption education challenged us to respond and to act and not just to watch and remain passive in showing our love for our country. This is loving our time with clarity, zeal, and conviction.

Looking Within

We are grateful for the gift of our Assumpta education.  We are thankful for what we have become. We are in jubilation for the chance that God has given us to reach out.  We see within that there is a lot more to give.  We see within that there is a lot more to share so that we can effect change in the lives of the new generations of Assumptans who are now shaping their own dreams.

Looking Forward

As we celebrate our Sapphire Jubilee, we continue this accompaniment as we walk with Chester Dominic Pangilinan, Batch ’77’s scholar from Grade 11ABM and Sophia Roanne Sonza, Batch ’77’s scholar from Grade 11 STEM.  This significant act on our 45th year as graduates of Assumpta is a fruit of the generosity of all our batchmates.  We are assuring these two young Assumptans that they are not alone they have the Batch ’77 who will walk with them.

We have so many reasons to thank God for and so many reasons to celebrate. We thank St. Marie Eugenie of Jesus and our Lady Queen of the Assumption, two great women who held also our hands throughout our journey.

God surprised us also during our Sapphire Jubilee. He sent Sr. Lerma Victoria Pangantihon, r.a, the Provincial Superior of Asia Pacific Province to inspire us more as we move towards our Golden Jubilee.  Sr. Lerma’s presence was indeed a great joy.

We would like to thank Mo. Ana Maria r.a, our principal when we were in high school. A “mother” who remembers our life journey, who until today calls us “girls and boys”.

Thank you to Sr. Josefina Maria r.a, the head of the Apostolates and the San Simon community.

We thank all our teachers for their love and support!

Thank you to the Core Group of ATHS

Thank you to the Admission and Grant Officer

Thank you to the Staff and Auxiliary

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you
