Despite the heavy rainfall that led to the flooding of the campus, Assumpta Technical High School pushed through with its virtual opening of classes for the school year 2024-2025 last August 5, 2024, with a program ardently prepared by the student-leaders of the Assumpta Student Board (ASB).
After almost three months of vacation, Assumpta carried out its opening of classes via Microsoft 365, the new learning management system (LMS) utilized by the school. Members of the school community were gathered in separate online meetings to formally open and embrace the new school year through an entertaining program led by the ASB. The meetings were filled with many students showing their enthusiasm and excitement to return to school.
During the program, the new school thrust, “One with Christ in His mission, we live synodality and respond to our disturbing realities today,” was introduced to the entire Assumpta community. It emphasizes the need to join as one community to respond to the unsettling realities the world is confronting today.
Furthermore, Ms. Arlene Carlos, the school directress, delivered her speech to welcome the students and employees for the new school year. In her speech, Assumptans were greeted with good news of one alumnus graduating college with the highest Latin honor, summa cum laude. The said alumnus acknowledged ATHS as one of his inspirations in realizing his dreams.
This was followed by the introduction of the faculty and staff through a creative presentation by the ASB. Afterwards, the ATHS EdTech Team oriented the learners on the new learning management system to enlighten them about the unique features and usage of Microsoft 365, particularly the MS Teams. Moreover, the learners learned how to navigate the application efficiently.
After three days of online orientation, the learners returned to school for a two-day onsite subject orientation. The ASB officers extended a warm welcome, offering simple treats that infused positivity into the atmosphere.
The school’s persistence to carry on with the orientation despite the difficult situations significantly aligns with the new school thrust as everyone prepares to face and respond to the disturbing realities today. This dedication in providing quality education to everyone in the community is truly inspiring to many. The first week of regular classes began last August 12, 2024.
