SAN SIMON, PAMPANGA– The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 3 conducted a journalism workshop for more than 200 aspiring journalists of Assumpta Technical High School (ATHS) last Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the Assumpta Little Theater.

PIA Region 3 Assistant Regional Director Carlo Lorenzo Datu led the session, focusing on various skills, techniques, and guides in becoming a responsible journalist.

“As campus journalists, they have the responsibility to amplify the issues and advocacies of students and nearby communities that need action,” Datu stated on his posts about the journalism training.

Alongside the Assistant Regional Director, Archie Reyes, a columnist for iOrbit News and graduate of ATHS also discussed his life experiences as an alumnus of the school and a journalist, offering pieces of advice to the young writers.

The learners who registered for the Press Conference in their respective categories attended the seven-hour meeting, serving as preparation for the upcoming initial screening test in September 2024, to determine who will be the school’s representatives for the said contest.
