“Gift, Love, and Passion”
These three words are your guide to finding your true purpose in serving God.
Last October 23, 2023, at the Assumpta Chapel, an activity entitled “A Server’s Path: A Talk on Parish Involvement” was facilitated to the Junior High School learners. This was organized by the Assumpta Student Board (ASB). The invited speaker is an active leader and server of different chapel and parish organizations in San Pedro Chapel, Nuestra Señora Del Pilar Parish, and Vicariate of Christ the King, a proud alumnus of Assumpta, and a Saint Marie Eugenie and Leadership awardee, Mr. Simon Santillan. The talk was facilitated with the primary goal of motivating the youth to take active participation in their respective parishes.
The talk started with a moving dance presentation performed by some selected learners and Mr. Santillan himself to lighten up the mood of the audience and set the tone of the session. After this, Mr. Santillan shared his journey as a server in his parish. In his recollection, he mentioned that he was recruited as a server when he was just in Grade 5, not long after he took his First Communion. He, then, started being a part of the Parish Lectors and Commentators in Grade 6 and was officially inducted when he was in Grade 7. During his stay in the school, he shared how Assumpta inspired and moved him to foster a deep sense of love in serving God. In addition, he also cited how he tried his best to manage his time and set his priorities for him to attend to his duties in the church, in the school, and at home. To further inspire the Assumptans and ignite their fire and eagerness to be servants of God themselves, he recalled some beautiful moments of his servant’s path.
To conclude his session, Mr. Santillan gave three pieces of advice in choosing the fitting parish organization for Assumptans. The first step is to find God-given talents and to nourish and use it to serve God. The second step is to find one’s inner passion to be a servant, who is compassionate in what he does. The final step is to stay committed to one’s decision to become a servant of God.
The school encourages the learners to be more active in their respective parishes. This is evident in the different programs and activities that the school offers to the learners. This talk was one of their programs, in support of the CLE Department, which intends to open the eyes of the learners to the wonders of being a server.
The talk ended with the ASB officers, along with Mr. Santillan, showing the recruitment process of varied organizations in the parishes of the different nearby towns to the learners to motivate them to start their servants’ path today.
