I Lead Therefore I Am: Assumpta Leadership Training entitled Empowering Assumptan Leaders to Become Servants of Tomorrow was conducted last November 18, 2023, at the Assumpta Little Theatre.
This was the first leadership training conducted face-to-face after the pandemic with the facilitators, Mr. Simon Santillan and Ms. Allysa Santos, who were both graduates and SME awardees of the school. They shared real-life experiences and relatable instances that they encountered as leaders. The class presidents, vice presidents, club presidents, and scholars (Bong Singson, Assisi, and TEA) from Grades 5 to 12 attended this event. These participants greatly enjoyed and involved themselves in this event as they strengthened their true essence of being servant-leaders.
Assumptans were grouped accordingly as the training started to create stronger bonds with one another and to apply the various lessons that they learned from the speakers. The activities started impactful from learning the sense of planning to creating an amazing runway show to promote the leadership skills that an authentic leader should develop and possess. The event’s focus was to nourish the capabilities of the participants while integrating the sense of camaraderie through the activities observed. Furthermore, many creative and competitive minds were joined together to carry on numerous group works and win as a team.
Additionally, given that the school faces challenges such as environmental issues, the Science department eagerly said ‘yes’ in responding to this reality of the community. With the help of the enlightening moment of Ms. Mariz Pangilinan during the training, leaders were able to voice out their responses to the effects of environmental concerns in San Simon. To address this issue, a petition letter was presented to the group that would gather the signatures of the learners in the school. This is to show that everyone will push through the appeal that will be disseminated for the betterment of the community.
Even though the school is still slowly going back to the reality of face-to-face experiences, it was indeed a successful event as everyone gave their full enthusiasm from the first part until the end of the informative session. Ultimately, the training’s main points were inclined toward real-life applications as what the school thrust 2023-2024 implies to all the servant-leaders – that new realities will always be present in the journey of becoming an effective leader in this evolving generation that our world faces today.
