Do you know what a magician can do? I know people who can do magic. These people turn our blackboards into canvases and chalks into paintbrushes. They can turn our pens into magic wands and our notebooks into maps of knowledge.
This 5th of October, we celebrate World Teachers’ Day to honor their “magic”. Millions of these “magicians” are all around the world – nurturing curious, young, and determined minds. They hold vital roles in the foundation of what our future will be like through our future generations.
Three deep breaths, two steps away from stepping into the classroom, and one big smile go a long way. The courage it takes them to step in and be ready to teach is admirable. The early mornings and late nights they won’t be able to count are all for us and our education. The sky is their limit on constantly giving themselves for the sake of their students. They dedicate their lives to help others form theirs.
At Assumpta, learners also honor their formators through the Employees’ Week held annually during the first week of October. During this celebration, learners and all stakeholders of the school offer messages of appreciation and simple gifts to employees. This is to honor these formators who magically make everything possible in order to give the best version of themselves to their learners every single day.
The truth is, I changed my mind. Maybe these formators are more than magicians after all. It is because what they do is not just magic. It is hard work, dedication, sacrifices, and passion.
